Peak Expiratory Flow Rate

Peak Flow Meters measure airway obstruction by measuring Peak Expiratory Flow Rate (PEFR) which provides an objective clinically relevant measurement of air flow. Peak Flow Meters are low cost, effective alternatives to conventional spriometry.

Data utilized by this program is provided by the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) Technical Standards for Peak Flow Meters based on American Thoracic Society Spirometry 26 waveforms.

This program provides "ease of use" comparison data to users of Peak Flow Meters by providing the Average Peak Expiratory Flow given their physical characteristics. Users can also find the same data in their documentation accompanying their Peak Flow Meter.
